Almost bought a Ferrari blind, glad I got it checked first
I've been dreaming about owning a Ferrari for years and finally found a 2014 458 Italia that looked perfect in the photos and the seller seemed like a decent guy. He was asking a fair price and kept telling me the car was flawless, full service history, never tracked, all the usual stuff. I was honestly ready to just hand over a deposit because I didn't want someone else to snatch it up. But my wife talked me out of it and said I'd be crazy to spend that kind of money without having someone who actually knows Ferraris look at it first. So I started asking around and found a mobile service that specializes in these cars. The inspector spent over an hour going through everything, scanning the ECU, checking for previous paint work, looking at the clutch wear, even testing the suspension. He found that the front bumper had been repainted and there was a minor oil weep from one of the turbos that the seller never mentioned. Nothing catastrophic but enough for me to walk away and keep looking. My advice to anyone in the same boat is simple, get a professional Ferrari inspection before you buy because these cars can hide expensive surprises that a normal mechanic will never catch. I'm in Dubai if that helps anyone else looking.
