Melvin Priestly joined the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent in May 2026 after developing his offensive-line skills at Grambling State and Illinois. The 6-foot-4 lineman is listed by the NFL as No. 74 and played both tackle positions during his college career.

Priestly spent two seasons at Grambling State before transferring to Illinois, where he started at right tackle during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He entered Detroit's 2026 preseason competition as a young offensive-line prospect before being waived on August 30.
