U4GM How to Survive Cold Snap Guide for ARC Raiders

Patch 1.7.0 didn't just tweak the Rust Belt—it flipped the whole routine on its head. Drop into Dam Battlegrounds after Cold Snap and you'll feel it fast: you're looting like normal, then you notice that blue-to-white meter creeping up and you're suddenly doing maths in your head instead of aiming. You've got a short window before it starts biting into your health, so I've been treating every route like it needs an exit plan, not just a good angle. I even changed what I prioritise in my bag after reading about ARC Raiders Items, because the cold punishes "I'll deal with it later" players.

Roof First, Pride Second
The simplest mistake is staying outside because you're winning a fight. You'll keep pushing, chasing footsteps, thinking you've got time. Then you hear the wind pick up, your screen goes pale, and you're one bad reload away from dropping without anyone even tagging you. I've started moving like this: (1) loot quick, (2) check for nearby cover, (3) rotate through buildings even if it's slower. It feels cowardly at first, but it's not—it's just playing the patch.

Candleberries Aren't Optional
If you're still running past those red Candleberries, you're basically choosing hard mode. They're not a "nice bonus", they're a reset button. My squad does this thing where one of us hangs back and farms bushes near the Spaceport pads or along the river edges by the Dam, then we swap mid-fight when someone's meter is about to spike. Sounds messy. It is. But it saves kits and it keeps the push alive. Also, watch the ice. Sliding looks funny until you drift into an angle you didn't mean to give away.

Fog, Footprints, and Close-Range Panic
The whiteout makes long-range play feel like gambling. Half the time you're shooting at a blur and hoping it's a helmet. I've leaned into SMGs and shotguns, because you can't "out-snipe" weather—so you out-move it. Footprints are the other big change. You can track a team like it's a breadcrumb trail, but it works both ways. We've started cutting indoors, doubling back, and breaking line of sight on purpose, just to stop someone tailing us all the way to extraction.

Grinding's Better, Losing Gear Still Hurts
The 2x Trials score boost helps, and Flickering Flames gives you a reason to hit residential spots for candle holders instead of the same old routes. Still, getting wiped by a blizzard feels rough, especially when you're trying new builds and that skill reset cost keeps nagging at you. If you're trying to stay stocked without spending your whole week scraping for scraps, it can help to look at ARC Raiders Items cheap as a backup option, so you can mess with loadouts and keep the fun part rolling without stressing every single run.
